A Furnace is a crafting surface that allows the smelting of ingots.
Where Found
A furnace can be created at a Level 2 workbench for one stone and 10 charcoal. The furnace created will be at its lowest level until it is upgraded. A furnace has a total of 3 levels.

As of version 1.3, crafting a gold block has been moved to the metalwork bench. As of version 1.4, crafting a steel ingot requires less coal, two instead of five.
