An Electric Furnace is a crafting surface that allows the smelting of ingots and creation of other items, very similar to a regular furnace. It was introduced in version 1.4.

Where Found

An electric furnace can be created at a Level 4 workbench for one steel block, one iron ingot, and 10 copper wire.

An electric furnace requires electricity to function.

Notes

Crafting steel on an electric furnace requires only one coal, half what's needed using a regular furnace.

The first time a player makes a blockhead craft pig iron (which can only be done at an electric furnace), the player earns the achievement "Pig Iron."

In version 1.5, the option of crafting a gold ingot from a golden chest was added.
