Where Found
Sand can be found in desert biomes or beaches near some bodies of water . Small deposits can be found almost anywhere above bedrock. It can also be found in place of dirt across the top of some floating islands .

Like most blocks, sand remains where it's placed even if all support under it is removed.
It's possible to farm some plants in sand instead of dirt . This is possible with cacti , coconut trees , and flax .
